History

In 1892 the Monreal Company Funeral Home was located at 26th St. and St. Clair Ave in Cleveland. The funeral home was opened under the direction of Joseph Monreal. In 1917 the business had moved to 110th St. and St. Clair Ave. This was one of the first buildings designed solely for the purpose of a funeral home. During the next nineteen years the second generation of Monreal' s (William, Frederick, John, and Phillip) took over the business. In 1936 the business had expanded to a second location at 151st St. and Euclid Ave. Still under the direction of the second generation of Monreal's, the funeral home expanded again in 1957 to a third location on Vine St. in Willowick. The Monreal Company is the original funeral home of Willowick and St. Mary Magdalene's Parish. During the 15 years in Willowick the business turned over to the third generation of Monreal's (William A. Sr. and James) and then moved to Eastlake in 1972. Between 1967 and 1972 the two other locations had closed their doors leaving the business in Eastlake. During the last 25 years in Eastlake the Monreal Company Funeral Home has moved on to it's fourth generation of Monreal's (William A. Jr., Edward, and Mary Pat). This new year brings the original Monreal Company Funeral Home 105 years of service and 25 years being part of Eastlake and surrounding communities.

In April 2002, we will be developing a brand new funeral home at 35400 Curtis Blvd., just a block away from our current location. We will be developing on 3 acres of land, just east of Rt. 91.
